Setts are outdoor pavings that can be found in different contexts – residential, urban, civil. They consist of cubes or parallelepiped shaped stones, which can be paved also alongside (“opus incertum”). It is possible to obtain this kind of paving with our Cubico, both Regular and Irregular, and our Sestino, both Tradizionale and Rustico. The setting patterns for our Cubico are these: overlapping arcs and alternating overlapping arcs, peacock tail or fan, concentric cirles, and parallel rows. As for our Sestino, it is usually laid in parallel rows or in herringbone.
Another characteristics of sett paving is the colour and, for both the singularity that it gives to the place in which it is laid and the comfortable underfoot, it can be found in any traffic area.
Porfidi S.r.l. suggests the following outdoor setting patterns for setts.
Selection of cubes with regular section for symmetrical paving. The thickness varies according to the kind of traffic they have to bear.
Porphyry cubes with natural cleft sutface and split sides, of different sizes and dimensions used according to the kind of traffic they have to bear.
Smolleri (narrow bricks) of variable height with lower and upper natural cleft surface and a visible split edge. Perfect for heavy traffic areas.
Smolleri (narrow bricks) of variable height with natural cleft surface and split edges. They are laid on cement mortar on aligned joints – they recall historic paving overall. They are suitable for pedestrian and light traffic areas.
